Meet Jo - Middle Leader Coaching and Development

Jo Halliday is a dedicated educator with over 20 years of experience in leading school transformation through both Headship and Executive Headship roles within the state secondary sector. Under her leadership, one of her schools was recognized as a “turnaround school” by the former Secretary of State for Education, a testament to her unwavering commitment to developing individuals and making decisions based on integrity and purpose.
 
Inspired by the impact of effective coaching on her own leadership journey, Jo pursued a coaching qualification to further enhance her abilities as a Headteacher. After transitioning out of executive Headship, she dedicated a year to researching the development gap in middle leadership. She discovered that many middle leaders, often promoted due to their teaching excellence, lacked access to relevant continuing professional development (CPD) to support their transition into leadership roles. Recognizing this need, Jo committed herself to addressing this gap.
 
As a DISC-accredited practitioner, Jo specializes in helping clients understand their preferences and behaviours. She works closely with middle leaders to identify both the "what" and the "why" behind their challenges, enabling them to achieve meaningful progress. The DISC profile remains a consistent tool in her coaching practice, providing valuable insights that guide her clients' growth.
 
In addition to one-on-one coaching, Jo has developed a transformative group learning, mentoring, and coaching program called *Shaping Culture with Confidence*, designed to empower middle leaders to excel in their roles. More information about this program can be found here

By beginning your coaching journey with a DISC profile and a comprehensive report, you'll gain a deeper understanding of yourself. With this foundation, Jo will provide attentive listening, support, and gentle yet firm accountability to help you achieve your goals. Sometimes, all it takes is a non-judgmental and invested partner to make the changes you seek a reality. 

​As with all EduLead coaching programmes, there is a free discovery call to establish your challenges and goals.  Jo will provide you with a summary after each session and invite you to reflect on what you have learned.  She will also be on hand via text message between sessions to ensure you are never alone as you transform your practice.


In her personal life, Jo is an avid sports enthusiast and serves as Trustee for both Get Berkshire Active and also Berkshire Youth. In her free time, she enjoys water skiing and other outdoor activities. Recently, Jo fulfilled her dream of living near the coast, relocating from Berkshire to the South Hams in the South West. She is happily married to Simon and is a proud mother of two grown children.
